WhitBEE is a new AI-powered chatbot that’s available 24/7 to help you quickly find information on their website, like permit information, events and local regulations.
The name is inspired by Whitby’s Bee City roots.
“This new chatbot is about making it easier for residents to get the information they need, when they need it,” said Mayor Elizabeth Roy. “Improving customer service through the thoughtful use of technology is a key action in Whitby’s Community Strategic Plan, and this is one example of how we’re delivering on that commitment. It doesn’t replace the personal service our residents value — it complements it by adding another easy, accessible option that works seamlessly alongside our in-person and traditional customer service supports.”
The town says the chatbot is in its first phase, with ongoing improvements planned in the future. The more people use it, the more accurate its responses will become over time.
