Snapchat has partnered with Perplexity to integrate its AI-powered answer engine directly into the app’s chat feature. The deal will make Perplexity available to all Snapchat users globally starting in early 2026.
Perplexity confirmed the deal on X, with CEO Aravind Srinivas writing that Perplexity “will be the default AI for all Snapchat users in the Snapchat app from January 2026.”
The deal will enable Snapchat users to ask questions and receive conversational answers from Perplexity directly within the Chat interface.

Under the deal, Perplexity will pay Snap $400 million in cash and equity as part of the global rollout. The company expects revenue from the partnership to start contributing in 2026.
According to Snap, the integration aims to let Snapchat’s community of nearly one billion monthly active users explore topics directly inside chat conversations. The app currently reaches more than 943 million monthly active users, with over 75% of people aged 13 to 34 in more than 25 countries using the platform.
When the rollout begins, Perplexity will appear in the Chat interface as a built-in answer engine. Users can type questions or search for information and get conversational summaries drawn from reliable online sources.
Snapchatters will still have access to the existing “My AI” chatbot, but Perplexity will act as a complementary tool focused on delivering fact-based responses. Messages sent to Perplexity will also help improve personalization across the app, Snap said.
Aravind Srinivas, CEO of Perplexity, said the integration will help the company “serve curiosity directly where it occurs,” noting that millions of people already connect and discover through Snapchat daily.
Snap has been gradually expanding its use of AI across features such as My AI and its recommendation systems. The partnership with Perplexity marks what the company describes as its first step toward making Snapchat a platform where external AI providers can reach its user base.
Evan Spiegel, CEO of Snap, said the goal is to make AI “personal, social, and fun,” adding that the collaboration with Perplexity reflects a shared vision of how AI can enhance discovery and connection on the app.
The partnership comes as Snap continues to diversify its revenue streams. In Q3 2025, Snap reported revenue of $1.51 billion, up 10% year over year, and said that its paid tier, Snapchat+, had reached more than 17 million users.
