OpenAI plans a cleaner ChatGPT interface by 2026.
OpenAI President Greg Brockman acknowledged that the new desktop version design of ChatGPT has become “confusing” after integrating three products—chatbot, Codex, and Work—into a single client. As a result, the program size increased from approximately 159 MB to 1.5 GB. The company is currently testing a cleaner interface without additional tabs, which is expected to be released in an update by the end of 2026.
