OpenAI has announced a new feature for personalised updates for users based on their chats, connected apps like calendar and feedback. Every night, Pulse goes through user chat history, memory to generate reports for them the next day.
“These could look like follow-ups on topics you discuss often, ideas for quick, healthy dinner to make at home that evening, or next steps toward a longer-term goal such as training for a triathlon,” OpenAI stated.
Pulse can also be connected with Gmail and Calendar for additional context. Users can receive a meeting agenda, a reminder to get a birthday gift, restaurant recommendations for a holiday.
Users can also choose what kinds of information they want by clicking on the “curate” option. They can ask for say local events over weekends or tips to learn a specific skill. They can also give feedback with a thumbs up or thumbs down and delete feedback history if they want.
“It performs super well if you tell ChatGPT more about what’s important to you. In regular chat, you could mention ‘I’d like to go visit Bora Bora someday’ or ‘My kid is 6 months old and I’m interested in developmental milestones’ and in the future you might get useful updates. Think of treating ChatGPT like a super-competent personal assistant: sometimes you ask for things you need in the moment, but if you share general preferences, it will do a good job for you proactively,” CEO Sam Altman explained on X.
OpenAI also added that they were working on Pulse so that it delivers relevant suggestions through the day, like a reminder to check a draft again or a note before a meeting.
Pulse is currently available for Pro subscribers and will soon be there for Plus subscribers too.
