OpenAI funding momentum continues after Nvidia denies partnership friction.
Tensions between Nvidia and OpenAI were dismissed over the weekend after Nvidia chief executive Jensen Huang described reports of friction as ‘nonsense’, pushing back against claims of a cooling partnership.
The comments followed a Wall Street Journal report suggesting the chip maker was reconsidering the scale of its planned investment in OpenAI and privately questioning the company’s long-term strategy.
NVIDIA and OpenAI announced in September a broad partnership that included a potential investment of up to $100 billion, alongside plans to build large-scale AI computing infrastructure.
According to Bloomberg, Huang said that his company would ‘definitely participate’ in OpenAI’s latest funding round, calling the company one of the most consequential in the technology sector.
OpenAI has reportedly been exploring a major capital raise involving firms such as Amazon, Microsoft, and SoftBank, highlighting continued investor appetite despite speculation over strategic differences.
