The Moors and Christians festival in Petrer is taking place from May 15 to 19.
This year will see the introduction of a new digital feature: a chatbot named Boni Xat, designed to provide quick and easy information about the event.
The chatbot can detect the language used and reply in the same language.
Councillor for Festivities, Alejandro Ruiz, described Boni Xat as an innovative way to support the festival experience. He said it would offer fast and useful answers to questions about the celebration, helping both visitors and locals.
“Petrer is proud of its traditions, but we also look ahead with a focus on innovation and growth,” the councillor explained.
Boni Xat was created by Pepe Rico, who explained that the chatbot works like a virtual assistant. By sending a message through WhatsApp, users can ask questions and receive instant replies.
The chatbot can help with a wide range of queries, such as the schedule of events, the best places to watch the parades, where to rent a chair, or where to eat. It’s also useful for members of the different festival groups, providing details like pick-up times and assigned spots.
Boni Xat includes practical details too, such as the location of mobile toilets, nearby pharmacies on call, and the placement of purple points for safety and support.
