TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Meta Chief Executive Mark Zuckerberg projects that billions of people worldwide will have their own personal artificial intelligence (AI) agent within the next five years. Unlike conventional passive chatbots, these AI agents are designed to operate autonomously based on individual user needs and data.
Zuckerberg bases his projection on the rapid evolution of artificial intelligence technology. In his view, AI agents are evolving beyond tools that answer basic queries into intelligent assistants capable of understanding their users’ specific goals.
“That is just working on your behalf 24/7 to achieve your goals in whatever the domain is that you care about,” Zuckerberg said during Meta’s earnings call on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, as reported by TechCrunch.
Zuckerberg noted that AI agents are already beginning to take on a variety of everyday tasks, from financial planning and health monitoring to household management and even supporting personal relationships and professional careers. As adoption of these digital assistants expands, he remains optimistic that the technology will emerge as a lucrative new revenue engine for Meta.
Meta is not the only tech giant with high expectations for autonomous AI systems. Google previously spotlighted customized AI agents as a cornerstone of its search engine overhaul. However, that move ignited pushback from users who felt inundated by the flood of AI-driven search results.
