LANSING, Mich. (WNEM) – The Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) has launched a new AI-powered chatbot on its public website, designed to make it easier and faster to locate information, access forms and navigate LARA’s online services.
Available 24/7, the new website feature provides immediate answers to common questions across LARA programs. This chatbot can help with identifying the correct forms, understanding application processes and quickly finding relevant information and resources on LARA’s website. Responses are generated using information on the Michigan.gov website.
“We are constantly striving to make government work better for the millions of Michiganders who rely on LARA for important programs and services,” said Marlon I. Brown, director of LARA. “This new chatbot is a quick and convenient resource to find the information you need, while also ensuring that our staff remain available to assist with questions that require more individualized support.”
Through the AI chatbot, users can:
The chatbot is intended to supplement LARA’s existing support options and provide a more efficient resource for routine questions. LARA says its staff remains fully available through phone and email for anyone needing individualized assistance.
Visitors to LARA’s website can access the new tool on desktop and mobile devices by clicking the chat icon in the lower corner of the screen. A chat window will open where users can type or use the microphone feature to ask questions and receive responses, including links to relevant Michigan.gov resources when available.
LARA says the AI-powered chatbot is currently in the early launch phase and will continue to improve as the statewide platform evolves. Users are encouraged to verify information and resources provided in chatbot responses and should not enter sensitive, confidential or personally identifiable information into the chat.
