LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) – Kentucky Attorney General Russell Coleman said the state is joining a national coalition taking action in the bankruptcy case of Character Technologies, the company behind the Character.AI chatbot.
The filing warns the court about safety and privacy concerns and demands protections for children and consumers before any sale of the company’s data or assets.
Earlier this year, Coleman sued Character.AI, accusing it of preying on children and encouraging self-harm while collecting personal chat data.
A Franklin Circuit Court just unsealed the lawsuit. Coleman vowed to take legal action.
