An increasing number of ChatGPT users are reporting problems with the popular chatbot from OpenAI.
As of 1 p.m. ET on Wednesday, June 17, Downdetector.com had logged 1,419 reports of issues with OpenAI. Reports started flooding in shortly after noon.
For some users, the following message is displayed upon opening the ChatGPT website: “No webpage was found for the web address: https://chatgpt.com/.” The page also shows an “Error 404.”
“ChatGPT seems to be down, completely. My chats are not appearing. I have a paid account. Nothing is coming up. There is no notification from GPT. What is happening?” a user posted on X.
ChatGPT, which launched in November 2022, is a generative artificial intelligence program from OpenAI that generates responses based on users’ requests. For example, the platform can write essays, create travel guides, draft fictional stories, and mimic a human conversation.
As of 1:30 p.m., OpenAI had not publicly acknowledged an issue. The company did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
