The University of Hong Kong launched the HKU AI Hub this month, a new central platform designed to help students, teachers, researchers, and professional staff discover, access, and leverage artificial intelligence technologies across the University.
Rather than navigating multiple websites and systems, members of the HKU community can now access a growing collection of AI resources from a single location, Professor Jay Siegel, Vice-President and Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Teaching & Learning), said in an email announcing the Hub.
The Hub is organised around three domains: teaching and learning, research, and administration. For educators, it offers tools that support curriculum design, content creation, assessment, and personalised learning. For researchers, it provides access to AI-powered research tools, computing resources, and emerging technologies to support interdisciplinary collaboration. For professional staff, it highlights AI assistants and automation capabilities to streamline everyday tasks.
The platform also serves as a resource for responsible AI use, providing guidance on HKU’s approach to AI governance, security, privacy, and ethics — ensuring that innovation is accompanied by appropriate safeguards.
Among the resources currently available are access guidance for Microsoft 365 Copilot and GitHub Copilot, AI-powered chatbots and virtual assistants developed for the HKU community, agent-building tools and APIs for developers, and curated training materials and best practices.
The AI Hub will continue to expand as AI technologies evolve, Professor Siegel said, with new services, resources, and opportunities for collaboration to be added over time.
