Google has announced that their Gemini Deep Research tool can now look at information from Gmail, Google Drive and Google Chat for users when they’re generating research reports. The AI chatbot earlier had the capability to search through the web, PDF documents and images uploaded by the user.
“Now you can start a market analysis for a new product by having Deep Research analyse your team’s initial brainstorming docs, related email threads and project plans. Or you can build a competitor report about a rival product that cross-references public web data with your strategies, comparison spreadsheets and team chats,” a blog posted by Google explained.
The chatbot creates a multi-step research plan, searches through the web, generates the report, edits it as per user instructions and can export it to Google Docs or turn it into a podcast.
Users can select the ‘Deep Research’ option from Gemini’s Tools menu, find the new ‘Sources’ option from the dropdown menu and see ‘Search’ which will now have Gmail, Drive and Chat on the menu.
Google has said that the feature is already available on the desktop version and will be rolled out to the Gemini app soon.
