After letting I/O 2025 attendees experience it earlier this year, Google is releasing a new AI-powered Androidify app and website. This joins the Android 16 QPR1 launch and September 2025 Pixel Drop.
The original app was pulled in 2020, while Google released a basic version last year. This new Androidify lets you turn a photo of yourself into an Android bot. Behind-the-scenes, Gemini 2.5 Flash is used to generate a detailed caption of the photo. Alternatively, you can enter a text prompt (and specify accessories), but the real-world translation can be pretty impressive.
The actual bot figurine is made using a fine-tuned version Imagen 3 based on the prompt, while keeping a “playful and stylized aesthetic” in mind.
Afterwards, you choose the format — 1:1, Wallpaper, Large wallpaper (widescreen), Banner, 3:1, or Sticker — and background: Masterchef, Jetsetter, Gamer, etc.
This month on Fridays, Androidify will also let you “animate your Android bot into an 8-second video” using Veo 3.
More broadly, this app services as a demo and guide for developers. It heavily leverages Material 3 Expressive components, including new shapes, motion schemes, and custom animations. The live camera uses the ML Kit Pose Detection API, while there’s also a tabletop mode on foldable. More details for developers are available here.
