Journaling app Day One has reconfigured its subscription to include a more premium “Gold” plan with AI summaries and a Daily Chat feature.
Day One continues to offer a free version of its journaling app for iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Apple’s Journal app is the better free option if you want to capture from more than one device or add more than one image to an entry.
As part of the latest update, Day One Premium, which unlocks unlimited device access and media logging, is now Day One Silver. Access is $49.99/year.
Day One Gold is the new “AI & Innovation” tier that costs $74.99/year. Gold introduces Daily Chat, Go Deeper AI prompts, image generation, entry summaries, title suggestions, and more.
You can compare Day One plans here for more details.
Daily Chat is “a conversational journaling experience” available for iPhone and iPad users. It supports text input as well as voice mode.
The new AI journaling system supports “Memory” for remembering details from previous conversations. Day One explains how Daily Chat works in four steps:
Day One says Daily Chat is completely optional, end-to-end encrypted, and nothing is stored or used for training.
“Day One is continuously exploring on-device AI models to make these experiences even more private in the future,” the company says. “Until then, the same commitment to privacy that has defined Day One from the beginning applies to every AI feature.”
Day One for iPhone, iPad, and Mac is available on the App Store.
Should Apple explore similar features for its Journal app in iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27? Share your thoughts in the comments.
