Users of the Claude AI application have been experiencing significant disruptions, as the chatbot has encountered a series of errors that hinder effective communication. According to a status update from its developers, Anthropic, the troubles began early in the morning UK time, leading to what they described as “elevated errors” within the system.
Despite identifying the issue, Anthropic has yet to disclose the underlying cause of the malfunction. A monitoring service, Down Detector, reported an influx of user complaints from various global locations, indicating that while many were affected, the situation does not amount to a complete service outage.
The problems appear to be primarily impacting users on the free tier of the Claude application, which allows a limited number of queries before requiring a subscription for extended access. This tiered structure has led to frustrations among users who rely on the free version for basic functionality.
In addition to the chatbot interface, both the Opus and Sonnet systems—integral to Claude’s response mechanism—are reportedly experiencing issues as well. As users await a resolution, many have taken to social media platforms to express their dissatisfaction with the current service disruptions. Anthropic continues to work on a fix, reassuring users that they are addressing the matter as swiftly as possible.
