Anthropic is investing $100 million to train 10,000 engineers to help companies move AI projects from idea to production.
On Friday, Anthropic announced Claude Frontier Academy, a program designed to tackle one of the major barriers to enterprise AI adoption: finding people who can build and deploy AI inside a real business.
The first cohorts include engineers from Accenture, Bain, Capgemini, Deloitte, McKinsey, Morgan Stanley, Novo Nordisk, and Commonwealth Bank of Australia. Anthropic aims to train 10,000 Frontier Deployed Engineers, or FDEs, by the end of 2027.
Anthropic said the engineers will begin with a multi-day, in-person program led by Anthropic engineers and instructors. They work through a simulated company deployment, from selecting a use case to security review and handover. Those who pass then enter a 12-week residency, leading a real Claude project at their own organization. The first engineers certified from the program are expected in early 2027.
The effort is another sign that forward-deployed engineers are becoming a prized role in the AI race.
FDEs, a role initially popularized by Palantir, work directly with customers to adapt technology to their systems, data, and workflows. They help decide what to build, integrate it with existing technology, and ensure employees can use it.
In December 2025, Accenture created the Anthropic Business Group and committed to train roughly 30,000 Accenture professionals on Claude, including Accenture’s “reinvention deployed engineers.”
Last month, Accenture partnered with Google Cloud to send 1,000 engineers to work with major clients on deploying AI agents.
Consulting firms have long placed teams inside client organizations to solve problems, but AI is making that work more technical, requiring engineers who also understand how a client’s business works, and that’s where FDEs are beginning to play a bigger role.

A Draup analysis found that FDE openings rose to 1,404 across five major consulting firms in the year ended May, even as overall job postings across seven firms fell about 24% year over year.
