Amir Haider, founder of AmirGetsJobs, says his team runs about 50 queries a week across ChatGPT, Claude and Grok to see which Central Valley businesses the chatbots name.
Amir Haider grew up in Fresno, graduated from Clovis West High School and left for USC and more than a decade at venture-backed startups in Los Angeles. When he came back this year, he said he found a local market that hadn’t kept pace with how customers now find businesses.
“What I find is that most businesses have not thought enough about their digital reputation and how it’s represented,” Haider said.
In March he launched AmirGetsJobs, which he describes as Fresno’s first “AI-native” agency — run by Haider and a set of AI agents rather than a conventional staff.
His argument starts with a fundamental part of Valley business — the referral.
“If you talk to Central Valley business owners, how they acquire customers, the first thing they will say is word of mouth,” he said. A chatbot recommendation, in his view, does the same job, because users have built up trust with the assistant over months of useful answers.
Haider says his client tracking shows that referrals arriving through AI convert at rates no other channel matches — 17 times more likely to purchase, by his figures — and that once a chatbot names a business, “three out of four times they will call.” The figures come from the agency’s internal data.
To measure it, Haider said his team runs roughly 50 queries a week across ChatGPT, Claude and Grok — questions like which immigration firm or irrigation contractor a Central Valley resident should call — and stores the results to see whether a client gets named. Each platform picks differently, he said, so a tactic that lifts a client on one gets tested across the others.
He has noticed two numbers moving in opposite directions, Haider said: rankings down, revenue up. Google’s AI Overviews changed the job a website does, he said.
“You don’t find your customers through your website any longer,” he said. “It’s no longer the days of a directory.” The site converts visitors who have already decided to call.
That has pushed clients beyond the Instagram-first playbook. “YouTube is converting better for my clients than Instagram, or TikTok is working better for some clients versus the others,” he said.
Paid placement is coming, too. OpenAI began testing ads in ChatGPT in February and opened a self-serve platform to U.S. advertisers in May. Haider estimates entry-level spending will run several hundred dollars a month, and says much of his work aims to earn visibility before clients have to buy it.
