The Association of Food and Drug Officials (AFDO) launched a new AI chatbot, Ask Wiley, a large language model trained on the AFDO website and its resources. The tool is designed to help users find state and local regulators, AFDO training, subject matter experts, process authorities, food safety resources, upcoming events and more.
Ask Wiley was designed to offer food safety professionals a more focused tool than general-purpose AI platforms such as ChatGPT, Gemini or Microsoft Copilot. AFDO said it can be used to:
Ask Wiley’s knowledge base will continue to expand over time by incorporating member feedback and new AFDO resources, said the organization.
Users can ask Wiley questions in their preferred language, and the chatbot will respond in the same language.
The chatbot also provides sources for its answers when possible, allowing users to go directly to the AFDO course, article or resource behind the response.
