Anthropic Merges Claude Chat and Cowork Into One AI Workspace
Claude is becoming more than a chatbot as Anthropic brings creative tools, documents, and presentations into a single connected workspace.
Anthropic has merged the Claude Chat and Cowork interfaces so users no longer have to switch between separate tabs for different types of tasks. From now on, chat, Cowork, and the interactive Artifacts workspace are all available in a single window.
Based on data from Techcrunch
Claude automatically determines which tool best suits a request. As a result, users no longer need to switch between tabs or windows manually. The Claude Design feature, introduced in April for creating website designs and prototypes, also works directly in the updated interface.
The update expands Claude’s capabilities for collaborating on files, presentations, and text:
• Claude can create, edit, and present slides.
• Completed presentations can be downloaded in PDF and PowerPoint formats.
• In the “Documents” feature, users can work with Claude to prepare individual sections, ask questions, and leave comments.
• Created documents and presentations can be shared via a link and edited on a smartphone.
Users can start preparing a document on a computer and then monitor its progress through the mobile app. Initially, the updated interface will become available over the coming weeks to Pro and Max subscribers in the web, desktop, and mobile apps.
These capabilities are expected to become available later for the free and team plans as well. The update was made possible by improvements to Cowork’s memory system, which helps Claude retain user context across different chats.
