All Catholic school parents are invited to join the Diocese of Nashville Catholic School’s Office presentation on “The Catholic Family’s Guide to AI Safety” at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 17, at Christ the King School, 3105 Belmont Blvd., in Nashville.
Megan Garcia, a Catholic mother, attorney, child-safety advocate, and chairperson of the Blessed Mother Mary Foundation, will share her powerful message about the growing dangers of AI, chatbot risks, and protecting children at home.
After the heartbreaking loss of her 14-year-old son, Sewell Setzer III, following an intense relationship with an AI companion chatbot, Garcia transformed her grief into a mission to protect other children and families. Today, she is a leading voice calling for greater awareness, accountability, and safeguards around AI technologies accessible to children. Her advocacy has brought national attention to the profound questions AI raises about child safety, human connection, and dignity. 
Grounded in her Catholic faith and inspired by the strength of the Blessed Mother, Garcia works to ensure Sewell’s life and legacy become a catalyst for meaningful change, and that no family has to endure a loss like hers.
