The maker of the Claude chatbot reported revenue of more than $11.5 billion in the second quarter, compared with $787 million a year earlier. The company is preparing for an autumn IPO in cooperation with Morgan Stanley and Goldman Sachs.
Anthropic PBC is informing potential investors that its revenue in the second quarter increased at least 14-fold compared with the same period last year, according to relevant documents, Bloomberg reports, writes UNN.
The creator of the Claude chatbots reported preliminary revenue of more than $11.5 billion for the latest completed quarter, compared with $787 million for the corresponding period in 2025 and $4.73 billion in the first quarter of this year, according to the documents. In the second quarter of 2026, Anthropic reported positive adjusted operating profit, the documents show.
Discussions are ongoing, and the figures may be revised. An Anthropic representative declined to comment.
The rapid growth comes as the company battles its longtime rival OpenAI to win corporate customers. Once considered an underdog in the artificial intelligence race, Anthropic has seen a surge in the number of professionals using its software to optimize tasks, including coding.
Anthropic’s annualized revenue, or run rate, exceeded $47 billion in May. OpenAI’s annualized revenue run rate exceeds $40 billion, the publication reports, although the two figures may be calculated differently.
The company is meeting with investors ahead of its potential mega-IPO, people familiar with the matter said in July. Anthropic has confidentially filed an application for a listing and is working with Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs Group Inc. and JPMorgan Chase & Co. on the IPO, the publication reports.
Anthropic aims to take advantage of ample financing opportunities in the public market to maintain its lead over OpenAI and others, as artificial intelligence companies spend hundreds of billions of dollars developing state-of-the-art models.
An IPO this autumn would allow Anthropic to debut not only ahead of OpenAI but also DeepSeek, a Chinese artificial intelligence firm that is capturing an increasing share of the technology market. DeepSeek is preparing for an IPO and could file an application as early as this year, people familiar with the matter said.
The race for leadership in AI has spurred the IPO market: according to Bloomberg, $256.4 billion was raised this year, excluding shell companies and other financial instruments. That is the highest annual figure since 2021.
