Snapchat has announced the launch of a new AI Sponsored Snaps format – advertising messages that integrate brand AI agents directly into the app’s main chat tab. Previously, users couldn’t interact with these ads; now they can ask questions and receive recommendations from AI right in the chat.
Users now have the ability to interact with previously passive ads by using prompts and expanded responses from brand AI agents in Snapchat’s chat.
Although not everyone is fond of this move, Snapchat assures that the community is already embracing AI: according to the company blog, more than half a billion users have sent messages to their AI chatbots since the launch in 2023.
“Dialogue becomes the most valuable real estate in advertising,” said Ajit Mohan, Snap’s Chief Business Officer, in a blog. “AI accelerates this transition, turning the chat into a place where people discover products, ask questions, and make decisions in real time. The real opportunity lies not only in placing ads in these environments, but in developing formats that feel native to how people already talk.”
AI Sponsored Snaps give brands access to nearly a billion active users each month. Companies can launch their own AI agents on the platform to boost audience engagement and drive purchases.
Snapchat emphasizes that the new format is built on existing Sponsored Snaps, which deliver roughly 22% higher conversions at about 20% lower cost per action. By enabling AI-driven interactions, the new format lets users talk to brands where they already communicate.
It notes that 85% of users regularly engage in chat, and in the first quarter of 2026 more than 950 billion chats were sent. Also, 57% of teens use Snapchat for daily messaging with other users, with 4 in 10 doing so several times a day.
AI integration into the advertising experience allows brands to engage with audiences in a more personalized way – directly in the conversational context when users are already inclined to interact, make decisions, and buy in real time.
This move is expected to strengthen Snapchat’s advertising ecosystem and open up new opportunities for personalized engagement with billions of users around the world.
