JAKARTA – US President Donald Trump said he had never used a chatbot for personal needs. This is quite surprising because Trump has been seen uploading artificial intelligence (AI) content.
This was conveyed by Trump in an interview with NBC News. When asked if he had ever tried ChatGPT or Claude, Trump admitted that he had never used it. Even though he never did, Trump said he still knew everything about the technology.
“I’ve never been, but I know all about it (AI chatbot). AI is a big thing. Maybe this will be the biggest thing. Bigger than the internet, bigger than anything,” Trump said, quoted on Saturday, February 7, 2026.
Trump’s statement sounds like a contradiction because his personal account on Truth Social actually uploaded several images and clips that are the result of AI.
One of the latest uploads that managed to trigger a lot of criticism was a video of racism targeting former US President Barack Obama.
The one-minute content depicts Obama and Michelle Obama as monkeys with the song The Lion Sleeps Tonight in the background.
After the post went viral, the White House said Trump’s post was a form of “fake anger” to The New York Times.
In the end, the upload was deleted after Republican supporters voiced their criticism. An internal source from the White House, as quoted via PC Mag, blamed a staff member for uploading the content on Trump’s account.
However, this is not the first time Trump has made a mistake with AI. Since the 2024 campaign period, Trump has uploaded AI-generated content several times.
In fact, Trump is recorded as the first US politician who likes to share manipulated AI images to attack his political opponents.
Trump does not use a computer or email, but he often uses his cell phone to interact with the public. It is not yet known whether Trump made this dangerous AI content himself or asked a special assistant to make it.
Although it seems that Trump is careless in using AI content, he is still concerned about the negative impact of this technology. When asked about the potential negative impact of this technology on humanity, Trump said that he was ready to bear the burden responsibly.
“It’s all my responsibility as president,” Trump said.
