Lawmakers in the Iowa House are moving forward with a bill aimed at making AI chatbots safer for children.
HSB 647 would require chatbot makers to implement safety protocols to protect the well-being of minors by limiting the collection and storage of personal information collected by the chatbot. Creators would also be required to use age verification for minors trying to purchase a chatbot.
If they don’t comply with the new rules, they would be subject to fines.
