YouTube unveils Ask Studio and new AI-powered tools for better insights – RouteNote

YouTube has announced a fresh set of AI-powered features aimed at supporting creators with the work that often happens behind the scenes. The updates, revealed at the recent Made on YouTube event in New York, are designed to make the process of planning and refining content much simpler, so that creators can focus more on the creative side of their work.
The Verge points out that, unlike some of the platform’s previous AI tools that focused on making music or generating images and videos, these new features are centred on data, strategy and audience insights. The aim is to give creators clearer direction about what is working and where improvements could be made. Amjad Hanif, YouTube’s VP of product management, called it a “creative partner”.
The tool can pull together data from across an entire channel, including both long-form videos and Shorts, and summarise it into clear insights. It can even analyse viewer comments to reveal the overall sentiment, highlight recurring themes, or provide ideas for future uploads. For example, a creator might ask Ask Studio to suggest new video topics based on recent feedback or to generate title ideas. If the data shows people dropping off at a certain point in a video, the chatbot will offer advice on how to improve that section next time.
There are still limits to what Ask Studio can do. It cannot compare one channel to another, so questions around how your competitors’ content is performing are not supported. But for creators looking to better understand their own audience, it offers a faster and more accessible way of using analytics. Alongside Ask Studio, YouTube is also upgrading its thumbnail testing feature. The new version allows creators to test titles as well as thumbnails, combining them into experiments that reveal which pairing drives the most watch time. This builds on the importance of making data-led decisions and complements the insights already available through YouTube Analytics.
