Alexandria, VA — The American Floral Endowment (AFE) has launched a new AI-powered chatbot, Professor Petal, live on www.endowment.org. Developed in partnership with nextvert, an innovative technology company specializing in intelligent automation, Professor Petal is designed to help industry members easily explore and browse our wide range of resources.
Using advanced language processing and intelligent response generation, Professor Petal will help visitors save time, providing quick links to resources or programs and answering questions.
“With the launch of Professor Petal, we are continuing our efforts to improve our programs and resources while embracing new technology,” said Debi Chedester, CAE, Executive Director of AFE. “This new tool helps ensure that industry members can quickly connect with the research, programs, and educational materials they need to succeed. It’s an exciting step in advancing the ways we serve our floral community.”
The chatbot will continue to evolve and grow its knowledge over time, improving its capacity to connect the floral community with relevant pages and answer a wide range of questions.
Website visitors can use Professor Petal for help with things such as accessing recent webinars, learning about scholarship and internship opportunities, or finding key resources like the Daily Light Integral (DLI) Maps. The chatbot offers 24/7 support, serving as a digital guide to connect floral industry members with tools most relevant to their needs, even outside of normal business hours.
While the bot can provide instant answers, the AFE staff will continue to be available to help industry members further with questions and assistance when needed. Analytics from the chatbot will be used to inform website updates and edits as needed to make it more accessible.
“Professor Petal is a perfect example of how AI can deliver real value to the floral industry,” said Marcin Malicki, Founder of nextvert.
“This chatbot provides instant support around the clock, streamlining access to vital information and tools. Together with AFE, we’re advancing innovation and connecting industry members with smarter solutions that help them work more efficiently.”
This launch builds on AFE’s ongoing collaboration with nextvert, which began through its support of the Sustainabloom Program via QR Zipper™, a nextvert company. As part of that partnership, $0.01 from every QR Message sold by QR Zipper™ is donated to the Sustainabloom Program, directly supporting sustainability education and environmental responsibility in floriculture. The introduction of Professor Petal marks the next milestone in this partnership, demonstrating how nextvert’s innovative technology continues to strengthen our sustainability efforts while delivering new tools to the floral industry.
